History and Governance

The Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth was established in 1989 by House Bill 789 passed by the Georgia General Assembly. The Commission was granted 501c3 tax-exempt status in 1990 by the Internal Revenue Service.

RFCCCY General Membership status is open to any Floyd County resident. The governing Administrative Board of Directors is composed of 25 members with representation of child advocates, business professionals, elected officials, social service agencies, and organizations that serve children and youth.

The Executive Director of the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth is employed by the Board of Directors to oversee the daily operations of the agency. The RFCCCY currently provides fiscal and day-to-day management for several youth and family serving grant funded programs.

Acting as the Floyd County Family Connection in partnership with the Georgia Family Connection, the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth partners with other local agencies and programs to collaborate in the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of programs and services for children, youth, and families in our community.
